Evolution vs creation
Reasons To Believe
Atheists
can
usually
draw
on
a
mental
library
of
reasons
why
they
do
not
believe
in
God,
whereas
I
would
suggest
the
believers’
mental
library
is
often
limited
and,
in
responding
to
the
atheist,
not
very
affective.
Nevertheless,
believers
will
remain
content
in
their faith and not be swayed by their failures to convert non-believers.
Generally,
there
is
a
problem
if
one
tries
to
address
every
objection
the
non-believer
might
have
in
that
it
is
very
time
consuming
and
often
not
very
successful.
It
would
be
better
to
consider
the
probability
that
God
does
exist
then,
if
successful,
objections
would
be
viewed
in
a
new
light
and
most
of
them
would
gradually
fade
away.
If
we
limit
the
discussion
to
evolution
vs
creation,
then a pathway is opened to recognising the existence of God.
It
is
a
common
belief
that
both
the
origin
of
the
universe
and
the
origin
(evolution)
of
mankind
has
an
insurmountable
pile
of
evidence supporting them; it is also a general belief that you cannot prove the existence of God.
When
considering
the
origin
of
the
universe,
let’s
first
clear
up
a
common
misunderstanding.
The
Big
Bang,
as
it
is
known,
does
not claim to theorise about the point of creation of the universe, but rather the expansion of it from that point.
The
discovery
that
the
universe
is
expanding
led
to
the
theory
that
if
you
extrapolate
back
in
time,
in
other
words,
reversing
the
expansion,
then
we
must
eventually
get
back
to
the
time
when
the
expansion
began.
Extrapolating
back
is
considered
by
scientists
to
be
a
reasonable
approach,
based
on
uniformitarianism:
the
assumption
that
the
same
natural
laws
and
processes
that
operate
in
our
present-day
scientific
observations
have
always
operated
in
the
universe
in
the
past
and
apply
everywhere
in
it.
Perhaps
a
bold
assumption,
but
it
is
the
only
theory
currently
available,
and
the
only
one
that
the
majority
of
the
science
community
is
focusing
on.
From
this
extrapolation,
scientists
are
able
to
calculate
the
age
of
the
Universe
as
being
13.7
billion
years.
I
find
this
the
most
difficult
subject
to
investigate,
as
the
much
of
the
terminology
used
by
cosmologists,
astrophysicists,
theoretical
physicists
et
el,
is
beyond
my
understanding.
This
doesn’t
help
when
researching
opposition
to
the
currently
held
theory, opposition that does exist, but we only know about it if we actively look for it.
However,
since
the
James
Webb
telescope
has
been
operational
and
produced
many
new
images,
questions
have
arisen,
and
discussed,
concerning
the
validity
of
the
Big
Bang
model.
An
Internet
search
for
James
Webb
will
highlight
some
of
these
concerns.
Here are two examples of interest:
‘James Webb telescope confirms there is something seriously wrong with our understanding of the universe.’

‘New research puts age of universe at 26.7 billion years, nearly twice as old as previously believed.’

Putting
aside
theory
detail
and
terminology,
there
is
obviously
a
vast
difference
between
13.7
billion
years
and
In
the
beginning
God
created
the
heavens
and
the
earth
[Genesis
1:1].
Some
suggest
there
is
a
time
gap
between
verses
one
and
two
of
Genesis
chapter
one,
known
as
the
‘
The
Gap
Theory
’.
However,
it
is
proven
in
the
section
‘Fingerprints
of
God’
that
the
origin
of
Genesis
1:1 (and John 1:1) is God.
Considering ‘On the Origin Of Species’
“
Charles
Darwin
was
an
English
naturalist,
geologist,
and
biologist,
widely
known
for
his
contributions
to
evolutionary
biology.
His
proposition
that
all
species
of
life
have
descended
from
a
common
ancestor
is
now
generally
accepted
and
considered
a
fundamental scientific concept.
“Darwin
published
his
theory
of
evolution
with
compelling
evidence
in
his
1859
book
On
the
Origin
of
Species.
By
the
1870’s,
the
scientific community and a majority of the educated public had accepted evolution as a fact.
“However,
many
initially
favoured
competing
explanations
that
gave
only
a
minor
role
to
natural
selection,
and
it
was
not
until
the
emergence
of
the
modern
evolutionary
synthesis
from
the
1930’s
to
the
1950’s
that
a
broad
consensus
developed
in
which
natural
selection
was
the
basic
mechanism
of
evolution.
Darwin's
scientific
discovery
is
the
unifying
theory
of
the
life
sciences,
explaining the diversity of life.”
If
there
is
a
general
acceptance
that
life
is
descended
from
a
common
ancestor,
then
where
did
this
common
ancestor
come
from?
Also accepted is the law of biogenesis.
“Biogenesis
refers
to
the
theory
that
living
matter
arises
only
from
other
living
matter.
It
is
the
synthesis
of
substances
by
living
organisms,
historically
contrasting
the
now-disproved
concept
of
spontaneous
generation,
which
posited
the
emergence
of
life
from non-living matter.”
Couple
common
ancestor
with
biogenesis,
then
the
logical
conclusion
is
that
life
has
always
existed,
but
we
all
know
it
hasn’t.
Then how did life begin? National Geographic addresses this question and suggests there are three possibilities:
1. Sparked by lightning
2. Brought to Earth by outer space
3. Hiding in Earth’s oceans

The
idea
that
life
began
with
a
common
ancestor
and
evolved
from
there,
a
minute
step
at
a
time
by
accident
(or
good
fortune),
was,
in
my
view,
killed
by
the
concept
of
‘irreducible
complexity.’
Despite
the
unavoidable
logic
of
this
concept,
it
has
its
opponents - see Irreducible complexity
here
.
As
knowledge
of
just
how
complex
a
human
cell
is
increases,
not
just
in
structure,
but
also
its
internal
workings,
then
the
conclusion
that
there
must
be
an
intelligent
designer
involved
becomes
all
the
more
apparent.
The
idea
that
life
was
created
by
God will soon be irrefutable.
This
article
might
be
a
good
start
to
understanding
this
view.
It
shows
just
how
complex
the
human
cell
is
and
the
now
obvious
impossibility that molecular machines could have evolved a bit at a time.
Whatever
your
views
on
all
this,
within
the
following
pages
under
the
heading
‘Fingerprints
Of
God’,
there
is
irrefutable
evidence
for the existence of God encoded within Biblical text.
